In 1968, the year of the "May Revolution" when France got rid of old values, we overturned the inherent concepts of the hairdressing industry at that time. In an era when the profession of “hairstylist specializing in studio shooting” did not yet exist, we founded the mod’s hair brand as a hairstylist agency specializing in studio shooting services for fashion photographers, designers and fashion magazines.

Through cooperation with world-renowned photographers such as Helmut Newton, Guy Bourdin, and Sarah Moon, we have given birth to a new profession - "studio hairstylists."

In 1974, for the female readers of fashion magazines, we opened the first “mod’s hair” store on Rue Rennes in the Saint-Germain district of Paris, the birthplace of the trend. In order to break the existing constraints on hair design in the past, we re-examined all styling techniques. We abandoned the widely used heated hair curlers and replaced them with natural hair flows created by hair dryers, proposing a more natural hair design concept.

This gave birth to mod’s hair’s unique “coiffé-décoiffé” (deliberately messing up after styling) technique, which provides a practical, easy-to-care-for styling effect that feels as natural as finger-twisting. To this day, we still deliver this natural and elegant charm to all parts of the world through our two-season series a year.

Today, more than 1,000 hairstylists who have learned our unique techniques are active in more than 300 salons around the world, continuing mod’s hair’s history as an international brand with innovative and refined vision.

In the future, we will continue to be a hair style brand that represents "French fashion" and continue to move towards new progress and breakthroughs.
